Postpartum Depression is not just a women’s thing now!

by The Anti Depression Team on

Do not mistake postpartum depression as something that only women have to undergo. Fathers, too, are prone to feeling depressed after the birth of their new offspring. Fathers may not undergo the hormonal changes that are experienced by mothers but they do have to undergo certain lifestyle changes that are sudden and often very drastic. These changes include increased responsibility and financial burden.

A sense of neglect and isolation can also occur and cause a father to be depressed, as his spouse, the mother of the baby, focuses her diverts her attention away from his needs to that of the baby. In addition, family members also place more attention on the newborn and the mother and neglect the changes that have been faced by the father, further neglecting him and increasing his risk of being depressed.
