urgent medical attention

Bipolar depression can also cause a range of varying moods, as shown on the scale.

On the left end of the scale includes depression-related moods. Moderate depression may cause less intense symptoms, and mild low mood is called dysthymia when it is persistent.

At the other end of the scale are mania-related moods. Some bipolar depression victims unconsciously experience hypomanic episodes that last less than a week and do not require urgent medical attention, where they experience energy bursts – which results in feeling very good and being highly productive – not as severe as typical mania’s. However, hypomania that is poorly handled may develop into severe mania or depression.
